As the United States Congress begins its 110th Session tomorrow, The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) will continue to advocate for the security of our nation’s borders as the top priority towards solving the threat to national security and deteriorating public safety affected by an increase in criminal activity as a result of the illegal immigration crisis currently plaguing our nation.  MCDC believes that national security begins with an increased deployment of National Guard personnel as well as the funding and construction of a security fence on the United States-Mexico border.

“There is an urgent need to secure the border first and the support we are receiving for this cause, and the growth of our organization made 2006 a banner year for deterring illegal immigration, exposing gaping holes in our national security and illuminating seditious behavior of elected officials” stated Chris Simcox, President and Founder of The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.  “For the time being, we have stopped amnesty and since October of 2002, we have located and reported to Border Patrol agents over 10,000 people who were apprehended for entering our country illegally, rescued over 200 individuals stranded in the desert requiring humanitarian aid and turned over thousands of pounds of illegal contraband to the proper authorities.”
Even while the U.S. Congress has neglected to fund a fence on the United States-Mexico border, Minutemen have volunteered their time to build a security fence through private donations obtained from thousands of citizens nationally.  MCDC has already taken steps to build a fence along the border with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West Bank in Israel.
“As we look towards next year, we are concerned that the President and Speaker Pelosi will neglect to secure the border first,” continues Simcox. “Therefore, we are continuing to organize efforts to increase pressure on Washington lawmakers so that the national security interests of our country are not jeopardized, like they were in 1986, by permitting amnesty.”
MCDC spent most of 2006 keeping Washington lawmakers from offering amnesty to lawbreakers and through an increase in its border watch patrols and the building of a security fence, it has deterred thousands of illegal aliens from 26 different countries who attempted to cross our border, all of which shall continue into 2007.  Even while Minuteman activity continued to increase on the southern border last year, over 30 state chapters were organized from California to Florida, thereby bringing national attention to organized, rampant criminal activity including identity theft, sex slave trade, rape, the trafficking of drugs and exposing the clear and present danger of terrorist murders that plague our communities each and every day.
In 2007, MCDC shall make every effort to expose and challenge the blatant contempt for the rule of law exhibited by elected officials in Congress and the President of the United States. MCDC will continue to lead a citizen protest for border security first, enforcing laws for employers and work towards the defeat of any attempts to pass amnesty legislation.
The Minutemen Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and build border fencing on private lands using private donations.  Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our laws in order to keep our families and country safe.  MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens and keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
