MINUTEMEN FENCE IS THE ONLY ONE UNDER CONSTRUCTION SET TO DETER INVASION BY ILLEGAL ALIENS AND TERRORISTS
PHOENIX, AZ— In stark contrast to the claim made today by the Department of Homeland Security in an Associated Press report, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps disputes that the U.S. government -- based on last year’s Border Fence Bill -- is in fact constructing a new border fence in the State of Arizona to deter illegal aliens from entering the United States. In reality, the Minutemen are the only organized body currently constructing a fence, due to the U.S. Congress having “authorized” but then neglecting to fund a fence on the United States-Mexico border last year.
“There is an urgent need to secure the border and it starts with the federal government adopting our affordable and doable model, and completing the fence that the Minutemen have already begun building,” states Chris Simcox, President and founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. “The United States government has put up a smokescreen to fool the citizens of this country into believing that they are protected from rapists, terrorists and drug dealers -- but their so-called fence doesn’t serve that purpose at all.”
According to reports last year after the Boeing Corporation was awarded an initial $67-million U.S. contract to begin work on the project, known as the Secure Border Initiative, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff stated, "what we are looking to build is a virtual fence, a 21st-century virtual fence." A virtual fence would be configured to include cameras on poles and no steel barriers to prevent border crossings.
Simcox continues "We should be able to get great pictures and a much more accurate count of those crossing the border illegally, but they will not be stopped without a fence."
Currently, the Minutemen are constructing actual border fence, as they continue to volunteer their time in order to build security fencing on private ranch land through private donations obtained from thousands of citizens nationally. MCDC has already taken steps to build demonstration fencing along the border with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West Bank in Israel.
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders and in our neighborhoods, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and build border fencing on private lands using private donations. Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our immigration laws in order to keep our families and country safe. MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens, and advocates to keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
