MINUTEMEN ANNOUNCE OPERATION "THE HEAT GOES ON"

MONTHLY BORDER WATCH REMINDS NATION OF NEED TO SECURE OUR BORDERS FROM THREAT OF FOREIGN INVASION

PHOENIX, AZ - Chris Simcox, President and Founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) announces that Operation "The Heat Goes On" will commence this weekend along the U.S.-Mexico border. As its members do every month, Minutemen volunteers are being mustered to provide citizen support to our United States Border Patrol agents and National Guard troops mobilized to deter the foreign invasion America is suffering on our southern border, especially since the President has recently removed thousands of National Guard troops from the border in order to support the surge in Iraq.

"Unfortunately, our nation's borders remain under siege by drug cartels, human smugglers, violent criminals and arms dealers," stated Chris Simcox, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps President. "The President and Congress do not understand that the national security and safety crisis America faces from massive illegal immigration will persist until they secure the borders with a physical fence."

Currently, the Minuteman message of "border security first" has provided growing impetus for the creation of 92 MCDC nationally-sponsored chapters, organized at the state and local levels. MCDC border monitoring activities have led to the apprehension of over 13, 429 illegal entrants by authorities since October 2002.

This weekend, Minutemen volunteers will monitor sectors within the Three Points, Altar Valley and Green Valley locales of Arizona, with the intent of observing and reporting to Border Patrol any illegal crossings and drug trafficking that have surged there with the recent talk of political "amnesty" for illegal entrants. Minuteman musters have proven successful in saving lives of illegal migrants at risk in the extreme heat and terrain, and in reducing migrant crossings and contraband trafficking - which saves Americans' tax dollars from being exploited by illegal aliens who seek use of our nation's social services, and from being expended in border-related police enforcement actions against gang and organized crime activities.

MCDC has been stalwart in advocating that border security be implemented immediately with funds already allocated to the Department of Homeland Security's treasury through the 2006 Secure Fence Act. MCDC has rejected numerous Bush administration and Congressional calls for massive spending from hypothetical billions of new dollars for unproven "virtual" border security in exchange for amnesty programs.

Unlike the U.S. government, the Minutemen have already been implementing a plan for border security that is more than "virtual" and that includes an effective material barrier - by volunteering their time, energy and personal funds in order to build highly effective demonstration security fencing on private ranch land, expensed through private donations obtained from thousands of citizens nationally. To educate the public and force federal government attention to the realities of border security, Minuteman volunteers have taken steps to build this fence along the border utilizing state of the art technology with the fiber optic mesh produced by FOMGuard, USA, also currently in use on U.S. military installations, the DMZ in Korea and the West Bank in Israel, and recently featured in National Geographic magazine.

Simcox concludes, "Minutemen will continue to be on the border every month until our borders our physically secured. We will observe illegal aliens, report their locations to law enforcement and even rescue those left for dead in the desert, all while we spend our personal funds to secure the border with the fence that our government refuses to build."
