PHOENIX, AZ —In light of the latest downturn in our nation’s employment and economic indicators, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) call upon Washington lawmakers to strengthen the economy by implementing strict employment verification laws. The implementation of legislation such as the SAVE ACT (H.R. 4088), would greatly reduce the number of illegal aliens who occupy jobs in this country, and enjoy an unfair advantage over citizens and legal foreign workers, because illegal aliens continue to be provided with the ability to receive compensation and social services, without contributing to the taxpayer burden of publicly-subsidized services.
“In order to save the U.S. economy, we must change the equilibrium by permitting only those legally authorized to hold jobs to actually compete for employment,” states Chris Simcox, President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. “Citizens do not want to keep working harder with fewer results and fewer benefits in order for our government to continuously reward the criminal behavior of illegal aliens successfully cheating the system.”
MCDC believes it is past time for the federal government to take the necessary enforcement steps to prevent the millions of illegal immigrants who occupy American jobs from crowding out U.S. citizen workers, while failing to contribute to the taxpayer base through payroll, FICA and other federal withholding taxes. Recently, MCDC volunteers concluded their first border muster of 2008. The border watch results for illegal alien activities include:
- Border Sightings – over 30,671
- Confirmed with U.S. Border Patrol – over 13,710 alien intruder apprehensions from 26 foreign countries
- Rescues – 326 saved from dying in the desert
- Seventy-three monthly weekend operations totaling 279 days on Watch
- Total days of Minutemen on Watch at the border 970 days
- 100 local chapters created in 50 states
- Minutemen on rolling Watch in local communities 365 days a year 24x7
- Leading the Charge: Making the Illegal Alien Invasion and Border Security top-ranked National Issues.
Minutemen citizen activists will ensure that Senators and Congressmen in all states and districts hear from them regarding the importance of this legislation now, in opposition to the advocacy of the open borders lobby and the Mexican government, who endorse violations of our American rule of law and the sovereignty of our nation. H.R. 4088 is exactly what the members of the border security movement have been demanding of our Washington lawmakers, and MCDC will advocate for its immediate passage in order to save the U.S. economy, while securing America’s safety, sovereignty and national integrity.Simcox concludes, “We must immediately muster strong grassroots support so President Bush , House Speaker Pelosi, and the U.S. Senate will all feel the pressure from millions of voters who want to make the SAVE ACT law, early in 2008. Otherwise, we are continuing to gamble with America’s national security and national prosperity—with the possibility of a President Hillary Clinton having veto power over this bill—and that’s not a risk we’re willing to take.”
