The Official Minuteman Civil Defense Corps

Press Release - Press Release

PHOENIX, AZ— Carmen Mercer, Vice President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is leading a group of Minutemen on Capitol Hill today in order to remind U.S. Senators that border security must remain the priority in any legislation crafted this week, rather than create the roadmap to amnesty that was announced last week. Mercer, who legally immigrated to the United States over twenty years ago, is aggressively representing the millions of U.S. citizens who are demanding border security, and is taking a headcount of Senators who will vote in favor of cloture as reported by the media; these results will be posted on the website starting late Monday.

“The provisions of this legislation abandon U.S. citizen demands for physical border security in order to politically pander to the millions of illegal aliens already present within our nation and the millions more poised to flood the United States,” states Carmen Mercer, Vice President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. “Our politicians are rewarding illegal behavior instead of addressing a serious national security concern by securing our borders and increasing the amount of agents needed on the ground.”

Mercer is accompanied by Tony Dolz of California and other Minutemen from around the country who will remain in Washington this week until a vote occurs.  In addition to their presence in Washington this week, the Minutemen are communicating with millions of citizens nationally, encouraging them to call or e-mail their Senators and request a “NO” vote on Cloture that would limit debate on this bill.

Mercer concludes, “how dare these Senators limit debate on a vote that will allow the millions of lawbreakers to get a slap on the wrist? These Senators work for us and we need to remind them that unless they abide by citizen demands for border security first and not the will of the open borders lobby, the Mexican government or corporate America, we will hold them accountable on Election Day.”

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders and in our neighborhoods, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and aid in the construction of border fencing on private lands using private donations.  Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our immigration laws in order to keep our families and country safe.  MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens, and advocates to keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
