PHOENIX, AZ—The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) will continue with plans to host their first two-day, regional leadership retreat in Kansas City, MO on February 1-2, 2008, while enduring attacks from a vocal minority of detractors, comprising open border lobbyists and pro-illegal alien advocates. The MCDC retreat will provide updates to Midwestern MCDC leadership on how to inform and educate the public about Minuteman activities to secure our nation’s porous borders, hold lawmakers accountable in enforcing immigration laws, and teach current volunteers to enhance their advocacy campaigns during their state legislative cycles.
“This retreat will be a day-long nuts and bolts leadership training session, in the city where La Raza has worked tirelessly to force the removal of our own Minuteman, Frances Semler, from the Parks Commission, simply because of her affiliation with our organization,” states Al Garza, MCDC National Executive Director. “Through our public event, Kansas City residents will see that we are patriotic citizens just like every member of their community, representing every segment of this nation’s citizenry, who simply want the rule of law enforced.”
The publicly announced schedule is unaffected by opposition organizing against the event. Minutemen volunteers from chapters in the following states will be present: Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Nebraska, Iowa and Indiana. The meeting on Friday, February 1st, will be open to the public and held at the Uptown Theater, 3700 Broadway, Kansas City MO. Doors open at 6p.m., and a $10 admission fee will apply. The admission is waived for MCDC volunteers with ID cards, firefighters, police officers and active military personnel.
