MINUTEMAN BORDER MUSTER DETERS ILLEGAL CROSSINGS ON POROUS BORDERS PROVIDES MUCH NEEDED AID FOR OVER-WORKED BORDER PATROL AGENTS

PHOENIX, AZ —Volunteers of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) held their third 2008 weekend border muster in California and Arizona, which resulted in the sighting of an estimated 200 illegal entrants and 12 apprehensions by the U.S. Border Patrol. Last weekend’s muster also served as a training operation for new volunteers who will be participating in the semi-annual Spring border watch operation entitled “Operation Sovereignty,” scheduled from 28 March through 31 April 2008 in Arizona, California, Texas and Washington State.

“Our government has forgotten about their obligation outlined in Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution which calls for them to defend the borders,” states MCDC President and Founder Chris Simcox. “Until they post National Guard troops back on the U.S.-Mexico border to fend off this invasion, we will continue to hold our border watch operations in order to stem the flood of illegal activity during historically high seasons for border crossings, just as we are planning to do in April.”

Minuteman volunteers used MCDC-provided third generation night vision goggles, thermal cameras and mounted Eye-in-the-Sky technology in high illegal-traffic locations, to demonstrate citizen appreciation for the difficult work conducted by U.S. Border Patrol agents. Our federal agents continue to serve under increasingly dangerous conditions, as they receive mere lip service from Washington lawmakers, who just last month stripped $3 Billion of border security funding from the budget of the Homeland Security Department.

The results of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps border watch for illegal alien activities include:

Simcox concludes, “Our porous borders are still the gateway for the world’s criminals, terrorists, sex and drug traffickers who seek to exploit the U.S., its citizens and resources. The reluctance by the federal government to secure our borders properly and enforce immigration laws is exacerbating a worsening situation that will not be resolved until we post National Guard back on duty, and secure our border with a double-layered, physical fence.”
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC) is a peaceful, law-abiding and citizen-led initiative organized to stand watch at our borders and in our neighborhoods, report illegal activities to the proper authorities, and aid in the construction of border fencing on private lands using private donations. Additionally, MCDC seeks to urge local and federal officials to enforce our immigration laws in order to keep our families and country safe. MCDC conducts border watch operations that assist the activities of the U.S. Border Patrol, reports employers of illegal aliens, and advocates to keeps tax dollars from being used for illegal alien benefits.
