PHOENIX, AZ — Chris Simcox, President and Founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), today declared an open invitation to the “Democrat National Convention Free-Speech Zone” where he and the Colorado MCDC will be joined by a lineup of nationally-recognized speakers on the opening day of the Democratic National Convention to call on Senators Barack Obama and John McCain to pledge to the American people a “comprehensive, principled yet practical solution to securing the borders, winning the war on drugs, and ending illegal immigration.”

The August 25th speakers will include Congressman Tom Tancredo, America’s Independent Party Presidential Candidate Alan Keyes, Libertarian Presidential Candidate Bob Barr, Constitution Party Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates Chuck Baldwin and Darryl Castle, William Greene of Right March, Columnist Frosty Wooldridge, and MCDC’s Vice-Chairman Carmen Mercer and Executive Director Al Garza.

The event is slated to begin in Congress Park, Denver, Colorado at 10 AM MST and will end at 6 PM MST

Explaining the purpose of the event, Simcox detailed, “We have a rare situation in our national political landscape where both major party candidates for president refuse to address a top national issue that’s vitally important to the American people.  Over 80% of Americans want border security, yet we haven’t heard word one from either Obama or McCain on what they’ll do as President to materially secure our borders and protect our national security and sovereignty.”

Simcox continued, “We refuse to let them sweep this critical issue under the carpet while American cities and towns are overrun by drug cartels, organized crime, 3rd-world diseases and economic instability.  We’re going to hold their feet to the fire.”

With Congress squarely under the influence of open-borders and pro-amnesty forces, border security becomes a key factor in the presidential contest, Simcox said.

Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), with chapters in nearly every US state, has aided the US Border Patrol in the apprehension of thousands of would-be illegal immigrants during its 5 years of border watches.
