MCCAIN THREATENS MLB WITH GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION BUT WILL LIKELY VOTE TO TO PASS OXYMORONIC INTELLIGENCE BILL THAT ALLOWS ILLEGAL ALIENS TO GET DRIVER’S LICENSES, AS LONG AS THEY SUBMIT TO TESTING FOR STEROIDS

The U.S. House of representatives passed an intelligence Bill that will double the strength of the U.S. Border Patrol by adding 10,000 new agents over the next five years. The bill will also increase the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents by 7,500 by the year 2010.

Until new agents can be trained and deployed to the front lines, the bill which is weak on immigration reform measures recommended by the 911 commission will add 4,000more hotel beds for detaining illegal aliens. Currently ICE has 21,000 spaces for illegals. Border Patrol agents working in Cochise County have apprehended over 60,000 illegal aliens in the first two months of the fiscal year that began October 1, 2004.

The bill now moves to the senate where Arizona Senator John McCain will likely add a provision to screen illegal aliens for steroid use, and given driver’s licenses for all 50 states before they are allowed to sign contracts to play Major League Baseball.

McCain Responds to Commissioner’s Statement

U.S. Senator John McCain issued the following statement commending Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig’s commitment to addressing steroid use by players in baseball.

“I commend Commissioner Selig for his willingness to agree to a more stringent drug-testing program for Major League Baseball - one that’s at least as strict as the regimen that the Commissioner imposes on the minor leagues. I would strongly encourage the Players Association to join the Commissioner in recognizing the seriousness of this matter and agree to this remedy within the next few weeks.”

It’s about time McCain found something important to do to provide increased national security. We suspect his next move will be to offer illegal aliens driver’s licenses and social security cards as long as they submit to testing for steroid use. Editor

SENSENBRENNER SPEAKS OUT ON 9/11 REPORT

House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner Jr., R-Wis., issued the following statement regarding legislation responding to the 9/11 Commission recommendations:

"I am pleased that the chain-of-command issues Chairman Duncan Hunter has raised have been resolved so that our war-fighters will not be put at risk. Unfortunately, even with these improvements, the current bill is woefully incomplete and one I cannot support.

"Americans deserve a complete bill so that we can prevent another 9/11 from occurring. Border security and immigration reform are vital components of our homeland security efforts, so why are they not included in this legislation? The time to address these issues is now, not next month, not next year. Hollow promises of future consideration are just that - hollow promises.

"Terrorists have exploited vulnerabilities in our asylum system and in the issuance of driver's licenses. This bill fails to include the strong provisions in the House bill because my Senate colleagues found them 'too controversial.' That's unfortunate, because their refusal to consider these security provisions on their merits will keep Americans unnecessarily at risk.

"I said two weeks ago that the Senate was hell- bent on ensuring that illegal aliens can receive driver's licenses, regardless of the security concerns. This Sept. 10th mentality in a post- Sept. 11th world is unwise and among those I intend to rectify next year."

DEAD BODIES FOUND IN ELFRIDA, PORTAL AND LYLE CANYON

On Thursday December 2, 2004 at approximately 1330 hours the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and advised of a dead body on Milepost 56 Highway 181. Deputies responded to the area and located the body of a Hispanic man in his early 20’s.

The body was transported to the Cochise County Medical Examiners Office for the completion of an autopsy to determine cause and date of death.

Two men, only one who was deceased, were found covered with ice by a ranch hand on Monday near Portal. The surviving brother of the dead man said the leader of the group told him to leave his brother behind and continue on

Another young Hispanic male was found dead in the Lyle Canyon area. According to Cochise County Sheriff’s department all three deaths appear to be weather related and no foul play seems to be involved.

The Mexican Consulate has been advised of the bodies and the identification to assist with notification of next of kin. There is no indication of foul play at this time and the investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
