California Fall Border Operations 2006

October Muster Update

Minuteman Civil Defense Corps of CA Fall Border Operations

Our next musters will be held September 29 through October 31st. All registered Minutemen are to report to “Camp Vigilance” in Boulevard CA.

Camp Vigilance is our new home complete with communications center, an 1856 Stagecoach Depot under renovation, a private home for a caretaker and 5 acres of camping facilities. Tent camping, RV hookups and bath and shower facilities are available. Nominal fees are charged to maintain and upgrade the facilities. Camp Vigilance is open to all registered Minutemen from any state. It is located 2.5 miles from the border and on an active smuggling trail. More than 500 illegal border crossers have been sighted and reported since April 2006 walking in and around our camp.

For the month of October (beginning September 29th) we will duplicate the above schedule on weekends with weekday daytime operations beginning at 7am and evening ops at 6pm.

Firearms safety classes will be held every Saturday morning in October at 9am by certified NRA instructors who can issue CA gun safety certificates.

For camping reservations please send an email to reservations@campvigilance.com  For other lodging info and a list of gear to bring with you to our high desert location (4,000 feet up) go to http://www.minutemanhq.com/state/read.php?chapter=CA&sid=177 .

Following the October Muster we will hold our next monthly muster on December 1-3rd at the same location. Our 2007 Muster Schedule is as follows:
January 12-14th
February 16-18th
March 9-11th
April (March 30th –April 30th)
May 18-20th
June 22-24th
July 20-22
August 17-19th
September 14-16th
October (September 28th –October 31st)
November/December (Nov 30th –Dec 2nd)

Our NORCAL Chapter meets in Napa, CA the third Thursday of every month and regularly schedules Caravans to drive the 12 hours to the border.

In April, over 400 members participated in our month long border watch. Our goal is to have every CA Minuteman spend at least one day on the border in October. In 2006 we will log over 100 days and 2,500+ hours on the border in CA. We monitor a 20 mile stretch of border in east San Diego County between Boulevard and Mountain Springs.
