For the most part, demonstrators let their signs do their talking at the corner of Broadway and Main in Denison on Saturday afternoon.
The scheduled rally by the Iowa Minuteman Civil Defense Corps was countered by another demonstration that, for the most part was made up of Hispanic people, who raised their own signs on the other side of the intersection.
Other than a few conversations with passer-bys, interested persons and the press, and one comment shouted across the street from the Hispanic demonstration to the Minuteman demonstration, the events were relatively quiet. A few horns were honked in cars that passed through the intersections, and there were a few comments shouted from passing cars, some directed in favor of the Minuteman rally and others in favor of the demonstration by the Hispanic people.
