HB6 Hearing set for February 20th, Contact Delegates Today!

URGENT: Contact Your Reps in Annapolis before hearings start at
1:00pm on Tuesday, February 20th!

Here is a bill that needs to be kept bottled up in Committee:

HOUSE BILL 6 - "Tuition Changes for Maryland High School Students"

Despite the innocuous-sounding name, this bill would give in-state college tuition rates to illegal aliens who graduated from a Maryland high school and met certain other requirements.

Here are the members of the House of Delegates Ways & Means Committee. They will hold hearing Tuesday afternoon to decide whether HB-6 gets to the floor for a vote: Sheila Hixson (Chair), Ann Marie Doory (Vice Chair), Joseph Bartlett, Kumar Barve, Jon Cardin, Page Elmore, Jim Gilchrist, Carolyn Howard, Jolene Ivey, JB Jennings, Anne Kaiser, Nancy King, Susan Krebs, Robert McKee, Peter Murphy, John Olszewski, Craig Rice, Justin Ross, Melvin Stukes, Frank Turner, Jay Walker.

If your delegate is on the Ways & Means Committee, contact him or her MMEDIATELY (Before 1:00pm on Tuesday) and ask that they NOT let this bill reach the House floor!

- Offering instate tuition to illegal aliens only encourages more people to risk their lives crossing the border and to settle in Maryland.

- Giving illegal aliens in-state tuition uses scarce resources better used educating low-income US citizens.

- HB6 is likely in violation of federal law, and will prevent Maryland from charging ANYONE out-of-state tuition in the future.
